Join us for a conversation with Atlanta-based digital and mixed-media artist Billy Clifton-Strawn moderated by Sacred Pride curator Kathleen Brown.
The solo exhibition draws from the personal photographic archive of Clifton-Strawn. He transforms familiar images through digital painting, layered compositions, and morphing video into installations that evoke sacred spaces. Through luminous imagery, shifting forms, and personal symbolism, Sacred Pride explores transformation, memory, chosen family, and belonging.
Rooted in the artist's lived experience and the shared histories of LGBTQIA+ communities in the South, the exhibition considers what it means to be seen, to become ourselves, and to find sanctuary in the people and places we call home.
As Clifton-Strawn writes, "What we build together is sacred. The family that raised us, the family we choose, the city that holds all of it."
In celebration of Atlanta Pride, Sacred Pride is curated by Kathleen Brown for Fulton County Arts & Culture Public Art Futures Lab and is presented by Gallery FC with support from Downtown Atlanta Inc. in partnership with ASHA Advisory and Art in the Paint.
