World Cup Mural: Wild Seed Wild Flower located at Windsor and Rawson St.
To sow a seed of radical love and change it takes a community. It takes the inception and intention to be that of what we wish to see. This mural is inspired by the futuristic concepts of love, healing and peace found in the dreaming of Octavia E. Butler. Or, in the spirit of MLK and all the Freedom Fighters who wished to see a world where we’re all growing as one . Everyday when I move and create through Atlanta, I see the flowers of these seeds living in each and every one of us. The second mural proposal adopts a more abstracted figurative style, blending human elements with the natural world and shapes. In this design, a central image shows a young child tying the shoe of another child while tying their own. This simple act captures a core truth I’ve come to understand through my time in this community: we take care of one another. We grow together. And, we too must do this in unison with an act of self love. This design was inspired by memories in the surrounding areas connected by this intersection. From walks through the downtown, art thriving in Castleberry, people playing soccer at the MARTA stations, or the explosion of food, movement and culture that thrives from the West End. In one of my first mural experiences at Windsor Street Plaza in Mechanicsville with The Urban Advocate. I remember the children playing, the joy in the air, and the deep sense of togetherness that filled the Rosa L. Barney Park. That moment left a lasting impact on me, and I’ve carried its spirit into this design and honestly a huge majority of my practice. Wildflowers bloom in the foreground, drawing from the phrase wild seed, wild flower—a tribute to natural, untamed growth, love and resilience. These flowers symbolize the spirit of Atlanta: rooted in diversity, blooming through movement, culture, our vibrant journeys, and joy. We are wild seeds, each unique in origin, yet part of a flourishing whole. This mural tells a story of collective hope, a journey of faith, and the beautiful unison of a city that continues to rise, together. This is the Atlanta I see now. And, for myself the radical change and love that we’ve been searching for has truly been here all along.
